We need our mise-en-scene to correlate with our music video and considering that our video is based on the 'journey to stardom' we decided to start the first part of video in the school showing the audience that HB is a young man from a secondary school starting his path to fame. We used the school sign to emphasise this.
After making his way down the school drive, HB meets and greets his friend which is intended to show the audience that he has popularity and is already well known within his school.
We then film HB in a local park in Kidlington making his way to a better, more prestigious destination. The park helps to show the background from where HB is from and the constant walking forwards in the video shows the need to get further in life. The park's mise-en-scene consists mainly of grass and in the background a playground area can be seen. The use of minimal props and scenery helps to further emphasise where HB is in life and where he wants to be in the future.
We then film a quick edit shot that jumps from the Kidlington park to a wealthy part of Oxford. This jump will show the audience how HB is now beginning to get further in reaching his goal - being on stage and performing to his fans. The mise-en-scene of this part of the video show large, expensive houses and a general feel of money can be seen.
After the Oxford scene is filmed we then jump to HB walking onto the stage and being shown stage directions by the backstage manager. The manager wears jeans and a shirt with a headset on and holds a clipboard. This allows the audience to recognise who he is without having to think too much. We were lucky in that our school has a large stage used for big performances. We used this stage to film the last part of our video. Although we could have used lights, I feel the darkness that was already in the stageroom was effective because it allowed the very last shot of the curtains opening (revealing HB to his fans) to be filmed at its greatest. When he finally gets to see his fans on stage the contrast of the dark stage and the bright area where the fans will be allows HB to be seen in a bright light showing him in a more 'angelic' way with more authority than what he had before.
